Fruit & Vegetable Match

A fun and versatile wooden game, our tickit® Fruit & Vegetable Match is a set of fourteen pairs of smooth tactile basswood ply tiles with a clear colour print on one side of real photographic images of fruits and vegetables. The square chunky tiles are easy for your child to hold and turn over in their hands.

Fun to use in the following ways:
• A matching game - turn all the tiles face up and match the whole fruit/vegetable with its corresponding slice image.
• A memory game - turn the tiles face down and try to remember where the matching fruit or vegetable pairs are situated.
• A sorting game - sort the tiles into food groups, by colour, variety (fruit or vegetable?), seeds/no seeds, texture, taste (sweet/sour/savoury) or group by size of the fruit/vegetable (smallest to largest).

A great way to discuss with your child the importance of healthy eating, how fruit and vegetables are grown, what climate they grow best in, what countries they originate from, which are their favourites and how do they taste. Which fruit/vegetables are they still to try? Learning through play is easy and enjoyable with our match tiles; developing descriptive language skills, mathematical language, collaborative play, fine motor skills, imaginative play and understanding the world around them.

Nursery World Awards 2019
Testers commented that they were versatile and could be used with different age groups.
Two-year-olds pointed out their favourite fruits and vegetables but were not able to match the cut version to the whole version of the fruit.
Children aged 30 months and over understood that when fruits are cut they look different. Other testers commented on how children enjoyed arranging and sorting them, using them for memory or matching games, and for learning about the colourful world of healthy eating.
